Her Interview
Ten minutes with Shunta
01What do you attribute your success to?
My success is attributed to my family. Making sure that that's where I'm at with this. That is what's gonna keep me grounded, that's what's gonna keep me rooted, that's what's gonna build me, give me the momentum that I need.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice that I have received was to strive and to keep going when I felt like, oh, this is overwhelming.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
The advice that I would give to any young woman that's coming in is to never allow the job, the business to overpower you or stress you to the fact that it flows into your home front. If you've got a sturdy home front, if you've got a home front that is built on that love, then you're always going to be able to fall back on that when you need that peace to keep you motivated to do it. Keep yourself grounded in your home front.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge that I'm facing right now is the battle with my home life. Even though my children are grown, they want attention. It can be a battle. There's hours of missing out on sleep, and making sure that I can show up for everybody. I have to keep showing up at work, I have to keep showing up in my business, I have to keep showing up for AGA, and I definitely need to keep showing up for my home front.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I value my dedication and my commitment. Because once I'm in, then I'm there. I dedicate that. I do have children and I am dedicated to it and I am not gonna allow anything to step in the way of that because I know what I'm looking to achieve.
