Her Story

About Shuriah

Shuriah Bledsoe brings more than 16 years of experience to the fields of workforce development and business development. She currently works with Superior Skilled Trades, where she recruits skilled trade laborers for construction roles nationwide, a task made challenging by the retirement of baby boomers from the industry. In this role, which she has held for less than 90 days, her daily responsibilities include screening resumes, interviewing candidates, and matching them with client needs across the country. Prior to this position, Bledsoe spent five years in workforce development, traveling nationwide to build relationships with organizations seeking employment opportunities for their clients. She began her career in 2010 at Goodwill as a career placement advisor, where she discovered her passion for helping individuals navigate job searches, resume preparation, and interviews. Bledsoe earned her undergraduate degree in business management from the University of Phoenix and her master's degree in business administration with a concentration in human resource management from Southern New Hampshire University, completing the latter despite facing a car accident, COVID twice, and the demands of single parenting. She attributes her success to her tenacity and to mentor Diane Wall, who introduced her to the staffing industry and opened professional doors. Bledsoe views her work not as a job but as service to others and aspires to return to workforce development in a senior leadership capacity focused on business services and employee engagement.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Shuriah

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my tenacity and to Diane Wall. She opened doors for me that I did not know were even possible. I never want to give up and always find a reason and a way to help people. I do not look at what I do as a job, I look at it as being of service to others.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Believe in yourself because this industry can be a little bit tricky. Know that you deserve a seat at the table. Continue to help people and create a servant leadership attitude because it allows you to get outside of thinking of yourself and put more focus onto the people that we are trying to help. It is service.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge is AI causing many in HR to be laid off. Opportunities include the surge in demand for skilled laborers and the chance to reach out to organizations, high schools, and colleges to promote these careers since America will always need people with those skill sets.
