Her Story
About Siena
Siena Dean is a learning and development professional, keynote speaker, and future readiness strategist dedicated to helping individuals and organizations align with purpose to achieve meaningful, long-term success. A graduate of Spelman College, Dean began her career by supporting peers as they navigated early professional decisions, building expertise in career development, confidence-building, and leadership growth. Her passion for helping others find direction led her to consult with KIPP National, where she supported alumni transitioning from education into early career opportunities.
Dean later joined Management Leadership for Tomorrow (MLT), a national nonprofit focused on expanding access to high-trajectory careers, where she worked with professionals ranging from entry level to C-suite leaders across industries including finance, technology, and entrepreneurship. Through workshops, coaching, and community engagement, she helped professionals develop the skills, clarity, and confidence needed to advance their careers and lead with intention. She also served on the KIPP Capital Region Public School Board, contributing to efforts that prepare students and communities for future opportunities.
Today, Dean has expanded her impact by launching her own keynote speaking and workshop business, where she helps leaders and organizations navigate change through purpose-driven strategies. Drawing on her Wharton Entrepreneurial course experience and her signature Purpose Compass framework, she equips audiences to discern what matters, direct their energy with intention, and sustain momentum in an evolving world. Beyond her professional work, Dean continues to give back through volunteer service with KIPP National, her local YMCA, and Girls Inc. She credits her journey to a commitment to purpose, a willingness to take bold risks, and the support of her husband and two children.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Siena
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to taking the leap into building my own business and having the courage to pursue something beyond my comfort zone. I am also deeply grateful for the support and encouragement of my husband and two children, who continue to be a source of inspiration and motivation. Throughout my journey, I have often asked myself, “What is the worst that could happen?” and that mindset has helped me move forward, embrace opportunities, and trust myself along the way.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I have received is that the fear of not beginning will never compare to the regret of never starting. The uncertainty and fear that come with trying something new can feel overwhelming in the moment, but they are often far less powerful than looking back and wondering what could have been. This perspective has encouraged me to take action, embrace challenges, and pursue opportunities even when the outcome is not guaranteed.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is simple: just try. I believe in taking ambitious risks and becoming comfortable with being uncomfortable. Growth comes from practicing courage and building confidence over time. Start where you feel safe, test your abilities, and continue strengthening that confidence muscle. Even practicing in front of trusted people, such as family and friends, can help you develop the skills and belief needed to step into bigger opportunities.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in my field is that the speaking industry remains largely male-dominated, and there are still not enough women represented in the keynote space. A major part of overcoming this is recognizing that women have valuable perspectives, stories, and expertise that deserve to be heard. At the same time, this creates a tremendous opportunity, because women are seeking connection, inspiration, and the chance to learn from the experiences of other women who are leading and creating change.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
My family is the lens through which I view everything, and they remain at the center of my decisions and priorities. My faith keeps me grounded, centered, and humble, while gratitude, kindness, appreciation for life, and looking out for others guide the way I show up both personally and professionally. These values influence how I lead, connect with others, and approach every opportunity.
