About Sierra
Sierra Benayon-Abraham is an author and journalist. She started writing her debut novel, a YA murder mystery, in high school and entered journalism during her undergraduate years at UCLA four years ago. At the UCLA Daily Bruin, she progressed from information session attendee to opinion editor, leading a section of around 80 columnists and overseeing six columns per week. Her section won the Best Section award at the annual banquet, an accomplishment she considers one of her proudest. She graduated with highest honors and was named Senior of the Year in the yearbook. She holds a Bachelor's of Arts in Public Health from UCLA along with minors in entrepreneurship and community engagement and social change. She is currently pursuing a master's degree in Journalism at Columbia University. Most of her experience lies in health science journalism, where she wrote a series of columns called Beyond the Statute analyzing laws related to marginalized communities and healthcare access. She aims to continue this work professionally while also pursuing investigative reporting.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Always ask the question, because the worst that happens is you get an answer that's no. Those no's are normal, you're gonna get them, but keep asking the question, because, eventually, if you work hard enough, someone's gonna say yes, and it'll change your life.
