Ten minutes with Sierra
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my passion for helping others and making a meaningful difference in the lives of patients. I am dedicated to advocating for individuals by helping them navigate the complexities of healthcare, ensuring they receive the coverage, resources, and support they need. My commitment to patient advocacy, problem-solving, and standing up for what is right has motivated me throughout my career and continues to inspire the work I do every day.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would encourage young women entering the healthcare industry to embrace their confidence, recognize their value, and never be afraid to use their voice. You are never “too much” for the opportunities and spaces you have earned. Ask questions, seek knowledge, and advocate for yourself and others. Your perspective matters, and you should never feel that you are too loud in a room where you deserve to be present. Confidence, curiosity, and the courage to speak up are essential to creating meaningful change and advancing in your career.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenges in healthcare today involve navigating workplace dynamics and evolving policies while remaining committed to patient advocacy. It can be challenging when organizational structures or administrative processes discourage open communication, asking questions, or challenging barriers that may impact patient care. However, I believe these challenges also create opportunities to promote a culture of transparency, collaboration, and continuous improvement. By encouraging dialogue, supporting education, and advocating for patients’ needs, healthcare professionals can help create systems that are more responsive, compassionate, and patient-centered.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me in both my work and personal life are honesty, integrity, and compassion for others. I believe in treating every person with respect, being transparent in my actions, and doing what is right even when it is challenging. In healthcare, these values guide my commitment to advocating for patients, helping them navigate complex systems, and ensuring they receive the support, resources, and care they deserve. My goal is to make a positive impact by serving others with dedication, empathy, and a strong sense of responsibility.
