About Sierra
I am a licensed therapist and mental health professional with over five years of experience providing compassionate, evidence-based care to children, adolescents, and families across community-based, residential, and educational settings. I currently serve as a Therapist at Canopy Children's Solutions, a role I stepped into in January 2026, where I provide comprehensive in-home and community-based services to support family preservation and reunification efforts. I work with children, youth, and caregivers to strengthen family functioning, reduce risk factors, and promote safe, stable home environments, collaborating closely with the Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services and other community partners to develop and implement treatment goals and deliver therapeutic interventions aimed at keeping families together.
Alongside this role, I have served as an Adjunct Professor at Brescia University since October 2025, where I teach undergraduate courses in research methods, sharing my clinical expertise and passion for evidence-based practice with the next generation of helping professionals.
Prior to my current role, I served as a Child and Adolescent Therapist at Weems Community Mental Health for over a year and a half, where I specialized in providing therapeutic services to children and adolescents, leading structured day treatment programs for pre-K children, providing family therapy to strengthen relationships and improve communication, and working one-on-one with children and youth to help them navigate issues such as emotional regulation, trauma, anxiety, and behavioral difficulties.
Before that, I worked at PUZZLE PIECES INC for over three years, first as a Direct Support Professional at an after-school autism center, where I provided individualized support to children on the autism spectrum, and later as a Registered Behavior Technician, where I provided one-on-one Applied Behavior Analysis therapy services, implemented behavioral management strategies, collected and tracked client data, and participated in case staffing and treatment planning. I also served as a Drug and Alcohol Counselor at Pinnacle Treatment Centers, Inc., where I provided individual counseling services to clients with substance use and co-occurring mental health concerns, developed individualized treatment plans, administered mental health screening tools, provided psychoeducation, and implemented crisis intervention strategies.
Across my career in mental health, therapy, and behavioral health, my work has been driven by a deep commitment to supporting children, families, and individuals on their journey toward healing, growth, and resilience. Whether I am providing therapy in a community setting, teaching the next generation of professionals, or implementing behavioral interventions with children on the autism spectrum, I believe in the power of compassionate, evidence-based care to transform lives and strengthen communities. I am honored to walk alongside my clients and their families during some of their most vulnerable moments, and I am committed to creating safe, supportive spaces where healing and growth can flourish.
