About Sierra
Sierra Thomson serves as a Clinical Research Coordinator and Project Manager at Emory University in Atlanta. In this role, she leads a team of clinical research coordinators who run clinical trials in the urology space, overseeing project management, resource allocation, and patient recruitment. With a background that includes patient care work starting around 2005 in hospital systems and community physicians, followed by bench science and lab work after moving to Atlanta around 2011, she merged these interests into clinical research. She has managed clinical trials for 10 years and research in general for 20 years, with project management responsibilities for about 3 years. Sierra holds a bachelor's degree in biology and an Executive Leadership Certificate from Emory University. Among her notable achievements, she led the Health Literacy Project, personally interviewing 130 participants to improve patient-provider communication, and has mentored 45 to 50 clinical research professionals. Her interest in the field was sparked by Dr. Gloria Huddleston, who introduced her to research opportunities.
