I attribute my success to my dedication to exploring the intersection of technology and ethics, and I’m most proud of authoring my AI Governance document, which reflects my commitment to creating responsible and impactful AI solutions.

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best advice I’ve ever received is: “Master your fundamentals, and let your excellence speak for itself before you even step into a room.” In the rapidly evolving field of AI, where tools, models, and workflows undergo significant changes almost weekly, having a solid grasp of the basics is crucial for adaptability, innovation, and credibility. This advice motivated me to develop a deep understanding of math, algorithms, data structures, model behavior, and ethical reasoning. By doing so, I ensure that I comprehend the underlying principles of any advanced system, regardless of its complexity. Additionally, this guidance has taught me that consistency is more powerful than striving for perfection.

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering engineering and AI is this:


Walk into every room with confidence, knowing that you belong there, even if the room wasn’t designed with you in mind.


Engineering is still a male-dominated field, and one of the biggest unspoken challenges women face is simply being taken seriously. You’ll encounter moments where your competence is questioned before you even speak, where you’re expected to “prove yourself” twice as hard, and where your ideas aren’t heard until someone else repeats them.


These experiences are real, but they shouldn’t discourage you. Instead, they should motivate you to take up more space and lead with confidence in your fundamentals. Speak with clarity and conviction, document your contributions, and surround yourself with women and allies who recognize your brilliance without needing it translated.


Most importantly, never compromise your expertise to make others comfortable. Your presence in this industry is not a disruption; it’s an upgrade.

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Artificial intelligence is undergoing a transformative phase. The most significant challenge lies in bridging the gap between rapid technological advancements and the slow pace of social, ethical, and regulatory comprehension. Across various industries, we are still grappling with the delicate balance between innovation and safety, transparency, and fairness.


However, this challenge presents an opportunity. There is a vast expanse of potential for leaders who possess a profound understanding of:


- Model alignment

- Responsible AI

- Ethical frameworks

- Data governance

- Domain-specific model training

- Human-centered design

- The distinction between what AI can achieve and what it should accomplish


This is an opportune moment for thoughtful builders, particularly those with interdisciplinary training like mine, to shape the role of AI in society.
