Her Story

About Siham (Sam)

I've been in e-commerce for about 8 years, building Sammy Jules from the ground up as a solo entrepreneur. I learned every single facet of the business, doing the photography, marketing, and website myself initially. Now we have a team of 8, and my expertise is really in growing the brand and putting a big emphasis on customer service. We're a very customer-centric brand that really puts the customer first in everything we do. Our mission is that we believe jewelry can be so transformative and can change how we feel about ourselves. When we feel good, it really changes how we show up in our daily lives. Our mission is to really empower women to feel confident and to show up as their best selves. We're a pretty timeless brand with broad appeal, from babies to grandmas, and we want to be the go-to brand that everyone goes to for quality and affordability, but still style, when they want to feel good about themselves.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Siham (Sam)

01What do you attribute your success to?

I think my drive is what I attribute my success to. I just keep pushing forward, and I never give up. When I first started Sammy, we were not so successful in the first two years and we weren't really making money, but that didn't stop me. I'm just like, there's just no way that this is going to fail. I'm just going to keep going. Then things start working in your favor, almost. I do believe the universe does conspire to help you in every way, but you have to put in the hard work, the energy, the persistence, the consistency, the heart. Once those things are there consistently, then things start working in a good, positive direction.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice is that we're afraid to start almost, because we just don't know what we're doing, and there's so many steps, and everything seems very overwhelming. I would say to just literally, it's okay to not know something. It doesn't make you weak, not smart, incapable, any of the above. We all have an innate intelligence that we can tap into, and it will guide us when needed. I didn't know what I was doing at all. I didn't go to school for design or get an MBA or go into business. I did economics, but still, I didn't have any experience in this, and I just learned via trial and error. There's so many resources, especially on YouTube. So it's just dive in. Don't worry too much, and then just learn as you go.

03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Compassion is one of my top values. I think that's very important to me. I like being compassionate, I like being around people who are compassionate, and just being open-minded to other people, cultures, ideas. We're all different, and we're each on this journey, and just kind of helping one another at the end of the day to just be better. I value that feeling of just loving one another in a positive way, and not judging someone because they're thinking differently, or they are different. I think that translates in our business, just how we talk to our customers. We really treat them like family. We have that compassion constantly. Whether it's designing or whatever, I'm still always thinking about them and kind of serving first.
