Simone OsborneBrown is a professional in the restoration industry with five to six years of experience. She began her career path as a business manager for school districts before moving into restoration to merge her operations background with construction work that had long interested her. An opportunity to serve as business operations manager for a restoration company allowed her to enter the field. In her current role, a typical day involves reviewing job progress, updating clients and adjusters, coordinating with project managers, attending meetings, pursuing new leads, and checking on active projects, including those for school districts. Simone holds a high school diploma and has supplemented her education through numerous certification and technical classes offered by employers throughout her more than twenty-five-year career. She values integrity and professionalism above all, focusing on earning clients' trust by owning mistakes and delivering consistent results. As a single mother of three boys working in a male-dominated industry, she draws strength from demonstrating that dedication to values and principles leads to success.

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Don't be intimidated by anyone or any industry. Know your confidence, your level of leadership, what you bring and your value. Know your self-worth and don't be intimidated.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Don't be intimidated by the industry. Restoration has so many opportunities in operations, project management, sales, business development, estimating, leadership, technical roles. Ask questions, seek mentors, never underestimate your own value. Listen to yourself, believe in yourself, and go for it.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Being a male-dominated industry where women have a harder time establishing credibility. Need to prepare more, have more knowledge, consistency and deliver results. But it helps by being prepared and having more knowledge.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
My integrity and earning clients' trust. Owning mistakes and making it right so clients and employer can trust in my delivery. Having good integrity, professionalism, principles. As a single mom, showing my boys that sticking to values and principles means anybody can make it.
