About Sindy

I am a nonprofit operations and data analytics leader with over a decade of experience in program development, human-centered design, and strategic planning, currently serving as Associate Chief Operations Officer at The Society of St. Vincent de Paul - Phoenix, a role I have held since March 2024, where I lead operations, planning, budgeting, and forecasting, and drive leadership development initiatives to support the organization's mission of serving individuals and families in need.

Prior to this role, I served as Director of Operations and Analytics for eight months, Director of Design and Data Analytics for over a year and a half, Data and Design Manager for two years, and Volunteer Coordinator for nearly one year, where I used generative and evaluative research methods to improve experiences and products for volunteers, staff, and guests, provided technical expertise on data analytics and systemic impacts to executive leadership, and promoted data-driven decision-making through mixed-method research and human-centered design.

Earlier in my career, I served as Program Supervisor for five months, where I oversaw hospitality operations for three thousand unduplicated asylum-seeking individuals each month, coordinated with staff and partner organizations, and trained up to fifty volunteers daily. I also served as Professor at Universidad Autónoma de Coahuila for over three years, where I designed and implemented data strategies for qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-method projects, wrote RFPs and secured external funding for research projects, published seven articles, and presented findings at international venues, and as Lecturer at Universidad Iberoamericana Torreón for over two years, where I directed students from designing research to publication and taught graduate classes on human-centered design and research methods.

I also served as Teaching Associate and Course Instructor at Arizona State University for over four years, where I taught Food and Culture, assisted in teaching Human Diversity, Social Justice, and Global Health, and as Field School Assistant in Guatemala, where I managed logistics of the Study Abroad program and trained students on ethnographic methods.

I hold a Doctor of Philosophy in Environmental Social Sciences from Arizona State University and a Master's degree in Regional Development from Universidad Autónoma de Coahuila.

Across my career in nonprofit operations, data analytics, and academia, my work has been driven by a commitment to equity, community impact, and using data and design to create meaningful change. Whether I am leading operations for a major social service organization, conducting research, or teaching the next generation of leaders, I bring a strategic, human-centered, and collaborative approach that creates lasting impact. I am proud of the work I have done throughout my career and excited to continue advancing the mission of St. Vincent de Paul through operational excellence and data-driven decision-making.
