Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to over 12 years of dedicated experience in the IT field, continuous learning, and a strong commitment to excellence. I began my career in business analysis in India after 2009 and later moved to the United States in 2011 to complete my Master’s in Management Information Systems at the University of Illinois Springfield. Professionally, I am most proud of leading a full-scale data warehouse overhaul and legacy data migration involving highly complex, large-scale datasets requiring extreme accuracy. Outside of work, I am passionate about volunteering as a Telugu language teacher, as I believe communication is key to success, and I value the impact of multilingual skills. A key milestone in my journey was being recognized as the best outgoing student at Osmania University, which reflects my long-standing dedication to growth and excellence.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve received is that I don’t have to choose between a successful career and being present for my family. I’ve learned that it is absolutely possible to build a fulfilling and impactful career in a field I love while also being a devoted mother to my two wonderful sons. This perspective has helped me stay grounded, prioritize what truly matters, and pursue professional growth without compromising my personal values or family life.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would advise young women entering the IT industry to know that it is absolutely possible to build a successful and fulfilling career in this field—it is not limited by gender. Visibility and recognition can be incredibly empowering, as being acknowledged for your work reinforces your value and motivates you to go further. I have experienced how something as simple as appreciation can inspire not only personal growth but also a sense of responsibility to uplift others. I also believe deeply in the importance of empathy and inclusion—every person’s work has dignity, and whether someone is working in tech or doing essential jobs in service roles, their contribution matters. I encourage young women to stay confident, support one another, and use their success to create more opportunities and encouragement for others along the way.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges and opportunities in my field is balancing a demanding IT career with my responsibilities as a working mother and my volunteer teaching work. It requires strong prioritization and discipline, but it has also helped me stay focused and grounded. At the same time, working in data and technology today offers incredible opportunities to create impact through innovation, while still allowing me to stay connected to family and community in a meaningful way.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The most important value to me is making a meaningful impact on others, especially young women who are considering a career in IT. I believe success is not only measured by financial gain but also by the ability to educate, empower, and uplift others through knowledge and skills—particularly communication, which I see as a foundational driver of success. This is why I dedicate time to volunteering as a Telugu language teacher and sharing what I’ve learned with the next generation. I also value creativity and connection, which I explored through a YouTube channel during my master’s program that reached 50,000 subscribers and 5 million views. Above all, I deeply value recognition, empathy, and inclusion, and I am committed to using my journey to inspire and support women from all walks of life, ensuring every effort and contribution is seen and respected.
