Her Story
About Sofia
I've been with Duke Energy for about 9 years, and I've been in my current role with the government and community relations team since October. In this position, I work to ensure all of our territorial agreements are up to date with all of our neighboring utility partners and the electric cooperatives. Before this role, I was wearing a few different hats - I was training at a few different departments and making SOPs. I'm very dedicated and passionate about what I do. I make sure anything that I do, I research. I'm very focused and I communicate well with anybody in my peers, whether that's virtually or in person, and I make sure that I have that one-on-one connection with whoever I'm working with. One of the biggest challenges in my specific role is that we work with multiple different projects at once, and just making sure that we're putting 100% in every single project simultaneously and ensuring that we have the accurate information and accurate history to complete the job and the project. The greatest opportunity about this role is getting to meet a lot of people - whether it's virtually or in person - including city mayors, governors, and CEOs within the big electrical cooperatives within the state of Florida. I get to meet a lot of really great people, including women VPs and state presidents along the way that I've encountered, who can really help you and give you words of wisdom.
