Her Story
About Sofia
My biggest challenge was actually coming here to the U.S., totally alone without my family when my English wasn't too good. I struggled a lot in the beginning, but I never gave up and kept trying. Right now, my biggest struggle is to manage everything because I know I'm doing too much, but I just love to do a lot of things and I want to get out of college feeling good and enjoying the most I can. I want to do as many things as I can and I don't like to give up. I love to be busy and to help, especially now I want to help Holy Cross with the social media, maybe connect with other colleges and do big things, and also improve our tennis team's marketing which wasn't too good. Since I was young, I always loved to travel and know new things. I was always very grateful for my life and the opportunities and always loved my family so much, but at the same time, I had this desire to explore. My parents have a company, so that's why I came to this business world, and I was always helping them with everything and was always part of the meetings they have. I was always very extroverted as a child, always talking to everyone, but I also had this desire to go to another school where I don't know anyone and see how it is. That was always inside me, this desire to explore even my fears, things that I am afraid to do. I love to grow and to be better every day, and now I'm here in the U.S., just very open to every opportunity that appears because I just want to live and experience as many things as I can.

01What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
My biggest challenge was actually coming here to the U.S., totally alone without my family when my English wasn't too good. I struggled a lot in the beginning, but I never gave up and kept trying. Right now, my biggest struggle is to manage everything because I know I'm doing too much, but I just love to do a lot of things. I don't want to give up, I don't like to give up about things, and I love to be busy and to help. I want to help Holy Cross with the social media, maybe connect with other colleges and do big things, and also improve our tennis team's marketing which wasn't too good. So probably managing time, but it's working out.
02What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Justice would be one of the main ones, so being fair with everyone. I'm learning in my classes about the common good, so always look to everyone in the business and treat everyone with respect. I think discipline would be one of the biggest ones because everything I'm doing, I really want to do my best, do my best every day. And the third one would be curiosity or innovation, so always be willing to improve and be curious about the world and find out new things for the best of the whole company and everyone.
