Her Story

About Sofia

I came from a background in communications and marketing, but like most salespeople, I'm pretty competitive. I always gravitated towards having a role where I could see a really clear, direct lineage of my success based off of the work that I put into it, and my effort. I love the game of figuring out what businesses are going through and identifying areas where a product that I was selling could support their own goals and produce positive business outcomes. I've been helping scale business development teams and helping BDRs exceed, hit, or succeed their quotas monthly, which is really exciting. I continue to grow and develop inside sales teams to meet quarterly revenue goals. What I attribute my success to is that I am not afraid to share how I feel and speak what's on my mind. That fearlessness of sometimes what can come across as confrontation or disagreement - I am always not afraid to speak up when something doesn't feel right, or something could be better, and that's always gotten me really far.

01What do you attribute your success to?

I would say that I am not afraid to share how I feel and speak what's on my mind. I think that fearlessness of sometimes what can come across as confrontation or disagreement - I am always not afraid to speak up when something doesn't feel right, or something could be better, and that's always gotten me really far. I'm pretty competitive, and I always gravitated towards having a role where I could see a really clear, direct lineage of my success based off of the work that I put into it and my effort. 02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would say always not being afraid to give feedback and stay curious and ask questions. It's definitely a male-dominated industry, but I think women bring a really introspective, empathetic part of it. If you're someone who's personable, and you get people to talk to you and open up about what they're going through, that's what makes a strong salesperson - being able to really figure out what teams and companies are facing. Sometimes that can be difficult, but leading with empathy, and just staying curious, and not faltering, or letting people make you think that you don't belong, or have a seat at the table, I think is just a good reminder. You have to advocate for yourself, because how can you best build relationships and advocate for others in sales if you don't know how to advocate for you first.
