I have been in the beauty industry for going on 26 years, working as a hairstylist, educator, and now salon owner. I was behind the chair as a stylist off and on for about 15 years before transitioning into teaching cosmetology. I balanced both roles for a while, doing hair and teaching. Through teaching, I discovered a passion for skin care as well. I believe in faith and that things happen for a reason. When a position teaching esthetics became available, I took it even though I barely remembered how to give a facial from school. I learned in depth about skin and embraced the opportunity. With my cosmetology license, I learned everything beauty-related and wanted to specialize in it all. I love this industry so much and enjoy showing my passion and sharing my skills with others. Recently, I decided to try something different and opened my own franchise hair salon, which has been running for about a week. My focus now is on the business side, learning about social media marketing, posting, and growing my brand. I've always been very private and shy, even though I teach for a living, and I've never really put myself out there. But I know that social media is a big thing in the industry now, and I need to learn and grow in that area.
