Her Interview

Ten minutes with Somayeh

01What do you attribute your success to?

I believe my success comes from curiosity, persistence, and the willingness to keep learning. My journey through chemistry, computational biology, and artificial intelligence has encouraged me to explore new areas, take on challenges, and continuously grow as a researcher.

The path of research and entrepreneurship is not always easy, but staying motivated, learning from challenges, and continuing to move forward have helped me overcome obstacles. I am especially thankful to my family for their constant support, encouragement, and belief in me throughout this journey.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

I have learned that success does not happen overnight. It requires patience, resilience, and the ability to keep moving forward even when the path is uncertain. Every challenge is an opportunity to learn and improve.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I encourage young women to develop both technical expertise and the ability to communicate their ideas. Learn the fundamentals, but also stay open to emerging technologies and new approaches. Seek opportunities to collaborate with people from different backgrounds, because innovation often comes from combining diverse perspectives.

Most importantly, do not wait until you feel completely ready to start. Take initiative, build projects, share your ideas, and create opportunities for yourself. Your voice and perspective can shape the future of science and technology.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest opportunities in my field is the ability of artificial intelligence to transform how we discover and develop new medicines. AI is creating new possibilities for understanding complex biological systems, designing proteins, and accelerating drug discovery workflows that traditionally require years of research.

At the same time, one of the biggest challenges is making sure that AI-generated predictions are reliable, interpretable, and experimentally validated. Integrating AI with fundamental scientific knowledge, high-quality data, and experimental approaches will be essential to developing solutions that can truly impact healthcare.

I believe the future of this field lies in building collaborative approaches between scientists, engineers, and AI researchers to create tools that are not only powerful but also accessible and useful for the broader scientific community.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I value creating an environment where people can openly share ideas, learn from each other, and work toward a common goal. Throughout my career in science, technology, and entrepreneurship, I have seen that collaboration across disciplines often leads to the most impactful discoveries and innovations.
