About Sonia
Sonia Badreshia-Bansal, M.D., F.A.A.D. is a board-certified dermatologist, dermatologic surgeon, entrepreneur, author, speaker, and healthcare innovator specializing in evidence-based beauty, healthy aging, and advanced skin health. She is the Founder, CEO, and Medical Director of Elide MD Advanced Dermatology, Laser & Plastic Surgery Institute in Danville, California, a comprehensive dermatology, laser, and plastic surgery practice she established with her husband, Dr. Vivek Bansal. With more than two decades of experience, Dr. Badreshia-Bansal has built a distinguished career focused on cosmetic dermatology, laser surgery, acne treatment, skin of color dermatology, and personalized skincare solutions. She completed her medical training and dermatology residency at Penn State College of Medicine, Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, where she served as Chief Resident and developed expertise in advanced dermatologic procedures and patient-centered care.
Dr. Badreshia-Bansal is widely recognized for her contributions to dermatology through clinical practice, research, education, and innovation. She has authored numerous scientific publications, contributed to medical textbooks, and co-edited Treatments for Skin of Color, a leading resource focused on improving dermatologic care for diverse populations. She is a national and international lecturer on topics including skincare, acne, laser technology, skin cancer prevention, and healthy aging. Her expertise has been featured in major media outlets such as CNN, KRON 4, Allure, Vogue, Prevention, Real Simple, SELF, WebMD, National Geographic, and other health and beauty publications. In addition to her clinical work, she has served as a dermatology consultant and global ambassador for Procter & Gamble, supporting skincare research, product development, and consumer education.
Beyond her medical achievements, Dr. Badreshia-Bansal is dedicated to advancing healthcare access, mentorship, and public education. She helped establish LION CARE, a medical student-run clinic providing healthcare services to underserved homeless communities, and continues to support initiatives focused on community outreach, skin cancer screening, and education. Her accomplishments include recognition from professional organizations such as the American Academy of Dermatology, American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, Women’s Dermatologic Society, and Skin Cancer Foundation, as well as participation in a Guinness World Record skin cancer screening initiative. Through Elide MD and her Five Pillars of Health philosophy, she continues to bridge dermatology, wellness, longevity, and innovation while inspiring patients, physicians, and future healthcare leaders around the world.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to transforming patients’ lives, advancing inclusive skincare solutions, and specializing in skin of color dermatology. I am grateful for the mentors who shaped my career and now strive to support others through mentorship, providing guidance and opportunities for aspiring dermatology professionals.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I encourage young women interested in dermatology to pursue their passion, as it offers a rewarding career with strong work-life balance and the opportunity to educate and empower communities about skincare. Stay committed to learning, serving others, and getting involved in organizations that advance the field.
