Her Story
About Sonja
My journey to real estate has been a long time coming - I've always been interested in it since I was in my 20s. I started my classes with Barney Fletcher that November took my tests and passed them and now I work with Coldwell Banker Commercial. A typical day for me involves going into our office, looking up potential properties for my clients in our system, attending meetings and training sessions, and meeting with clients to go over what we're looking at. My background in sales - from insurance and claims to working with major airlines - has really prepared me for this. I didn't realize it at first, but when you think deeply about it, all of it is just sales. I love people and I like to talk to people, so sales has always been my main area of expertise.

01What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
I think it's more economy. It's very unpredictable and inconsistent. When you're in something like real estate, whether it's on the residential or commercial side, the economy is something that you definitely look at and hope that it gets better. People's disposable income is really important as far as when you're trying to buy or lease something, especially in my field. If people don't have the disposable income, then it's less people that are buying, and then it just kind of trickles down. So I would definitely say the economy, and hoping that it does get better, but we just don't know. There's a lot of question marks right now.
