Tylo Technologies
Salina, KS 67401

Sophia Carr (She/Her) is a technology executive and cybersecurity entrepreneur based in Salina, Kansas. She is the Chief Executive Officer of Tylo Technologies, where she leads the company’s work in cybersecurity, compliance, AI, cloud solutions, and technical services. With over five years of experience in the IT industry, she has built a reputation for aligning technical innovation with strong business strategy and customer-focused service delivery. She is especially known for her ability to simplify complex systems while strengthening organizational security and resilience.

Sophia purchased and became the owner of her IT business at age 21 and has been leading it for approximately two years, growing it into a recognized regional provider. Under her leadership, Tylo Technologies has gained significant recognition, including a nomination in December 2025 as one of the Top 10 Best IT Providers in the Midwest, which led to an invitation to a commemorative industry event in Hollywood. She is currently 23 and is recognized as one of the youngest women-owned IT business leaders in the Salina area, distinguishing herself in a competitive and traditionally male-dominated industry.

Born and raised in Kansas, Sophia’s company name reflects her deep local pride, drawing inspiration from Kansas’s state marine fossil to symbolize strength, adaptability, and regional identity. She is committed to supporting small businesses and communities across Kansas by helping them adopt secure, reliable technology while reducing exposure to cybersecurity threats. A graduate of Information and Networking Technology at Manhattan Area Technical College, she continues to focus on building credibility through results-driven leadership, especially in response to the challenges of unconscious ageism in rural technology sectors.

Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success primarily to my own mindset, along with the support of my family, friends, and professional network. At the core of my growth has been a commitment to maintaining a flexible and adaptable approach, which allows me to respond effectively to the constant changes in technology, evolving industry trends, and competitive challenges. By staying open to learning and quickly adjusting to new environments, I have been able to navigate complexity, remain resilient, and continue progressing both personally and professionally.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would advise young women entering the IT industry to take time to thoroughly research the different career paths within the field, as technology is broad and offers many directions, much like business. It is also important to be prepared for challenges, as this can be a discouraging industry at times, particularly in male-dominated environments such as the one I work in, where I am the youngest and one of the few women-owned IT business leaders in my region outside of larger cities like Kansas City and Wichita. However, I would encourage them not to be discouraged, because there is always room to differentiate yourself through your skills, perspective, and determination, and to create meaningful impact within the market.
