About Sophia
Sophia Jensen is a junior and first-year transfer student pursuing her degree online at Grand Canyon University after completing two full years at Whitworth University. She has recently secured a new job at a local coffee shop and previously held the role of head football manager at Whitworth, in addition to working as a summer babysitter and nanny. Sophia lives at home with her mother and balances her academic responsibilities with family and friend time. She attributes her success to the strong support from her parents, relatives, and her uncle, an education consultant and professor at Seattle University, as well as her practice of being herself. Her uncle advised her to select work she loves, enjoys, and excels at, rather than focusing solely on financial gain. Sophia emphasizes values such as being a hard worker, diligent, a good advocate, and helping herself and others, and she encourages young women to keep being themselves while working hard and supporting those around them.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the people in my life who have supported me, like my parents, relatives, and my uncle who has given me advice. Also just being myself.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
My uncle, who is an education consultant and professor at Seattle University, advised me to pick something that I love to do, something that I enjoy, not all about the money, and something that I'm good at.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Keep being yourself because that really gets you far in life. Keep being a hard worker and helping yourself and others.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Being a hard worker, diligent, a good advocate, helping yourself and others, and asking what you could do next when done with a task.
