Ten minutes with Sophia
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my long lasting passion for supporting the IDD community. Work becomes effortless when what you do matters so much to you.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice was do what makes you happy each day, even if that changes throughout your life, just make sure you are doing what brings you joy.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Finding what your truest strengths are, and really leaning into them allows you to reach your full potential. When you find that thing that really clicks, really lean into it and trust that that's what's going to carry you success.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
There are too many societal barriers standing in the way of people with IDD reaching their full potential, lack of accessibility, lack of opportunity, lack of support. It is our job to take down those barriers and support the community towards their independence and potential. I am starting with employment, but I won’t stop there.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I value working with a team that encourages each other. We should all stand together to support and celebrates others triumphs!
