About Sophia

Sophia Sung serves as a client relations advocate at Ferrari Investments, where she handles incoming calls at the regional office in Durham and guides clients through their concerns. She has worked in client-facing roles in finance for nearly four years, including three to four years as a remote bookkeeper managing client transactions. In addition to her current role of six weeks, she completed a publishing and editorial associate position at a marketing agency and a legal internship with the Georgia Court of Appeals last summer. As a full-time third-year student at UNC, she balances academics with a capstone project streamlining processes for the Career Center at Fidelity. Sophia is actively involved in campus organizations including the Korean student association, SADD, UNIC, the wealth and asset management club, and a business fraternity. She also tutors math students through Teach for America, focusing on supporting women and children via UNIC initiatives.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

To get comfortable you have to be uncomfortable. There are gonna be a lot of uncomfortable situations like not wanting to speak up or not knowing anyone or the industry but you have to put yourself out there and keep saying yes to those environments. Eventually you become more comfortable and step out of your comfort zone. Especially for women and girls you just have to ask and speak up. The worst they can say is no and that's okay. You'll never know unless you try.
