Her Story

About Sophie

I've been in marketing for 7 years and have served as a Field Marketing Manager for 6 years at Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers. In my role, I handle all community engagement, building partnerships, and driving traffic to our restaurants. What I love most about this work is the community relationship building aspect - that's what drew me to business in the first place. Working with Raising Cane's gives me the ability to do that relationship building while also seeing first-hand results as we drive traffic, which is always great. My most notable achievement has been executing all events for our Ohio State Sponsorship, which is the largest collegiate sponsorship that we currently have. The job does come with challenges, particularly around work-life balance, as it involves a lot of evenings and weekends, which can definitely take a toll. But I stay committed because I value having a good work ethic while striving for that balance.

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to how hardworking I am. I've also had incredible mentors who have contributed significantly to where I am today. Crystal Vause was one of my first bosses, and I would attribute a lot of my success to her guidance and support. Matt Salts has also been instrumental in my professional development. The best career advice I ever received was to ask questions and ask for feedback, whether positive or negative, and that mindset has really helped me grow and improve throughout my career.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I ever received was to ask questions and ask for feedback, positive or negative. This advice has been invaluable throughout my career because it's helped me continuously learn and improve. Being open to feedback, whether it's positive reinforcement or constructive criticism, has allowed me to grow professionally and become better at what I do.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this field would be to speak up. Don't be afraid to say what's on your mind or contribute to a conversation. It's so important to make your voice heard and share your ideas and perspectives, even when it might feel intimidating. Your contributions matter, and you deserve to be part of the conversation.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge in my field right now is work-life balance. It's a job that requires a lot of evenings and weekends, and that definitely takes a toll. The long hours and irregular schedule can be pretty challenging to manage, especially when you're trying to maintain both a good work ethic and a healthy personal life. It's something I continue to navigate and work on.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

In my personal life, my faith and my family are the most important values to me. They ground me and give me purpose beyond my career. In my work life, I value having a good work ethic and striving for work-life balance. I believe in working hard and being dedicated to what I do, but I also recognize the importance of maintaining balance so I can show up as my best self both professionally and personally.
