What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success largely to my educational foundation in law—beginning with my LLB in India and followed by my master’s in intellectual property law in the United States, which I completed in 2013.
Law school shaped the way I think. It taught me to structure my arguments with intention—whenever I make a point, I ask myself: Why am I making this point? What is the reasoning behind it? And why does it matter? That clarity and discipline in thinking have been incredibly impactful in my career.
I was also fortunate to have supportive mentors and professors who guided me throughout my journey, especially as an immigrant. Early on, I hesitated to speak up—I often questioned whether my ideas were valid or how they would be perceived. But over time, through experience and persistence, I learned to overcome that hesitation.
I found my voice. I became more confident in expressing my ideas, standing by my perspectives, and offering solutions with conviction. I learned not just to speak—but to communicate clearly, thoughtfully, and effectively.
Strong communication is something I truly value. It has been a cornerstone of my success, helping me navigate both my professional path and my personal life with clarity and confidence.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would offer them my full support—along with a few key recommendations.
First, understand this: gender is not a barrier. If someone else can achieve something in healthcare or a contracts-related field, so can you. Women today are breaking glass ceilings every day, and there is absolutely space for you to succeed and make an impact.
Confidence is essential. Believe in your capabilities and don’t hesitate to bring people together to solve problems. Every organization has its challenges—what sets you apart is your ability to use your knowledge, experience, and voice to navigate them.
And that brings me to something critical: speak up. Your opinions matter. There will be times when you face pushback—and that’s okay. Stand by your ideas and don’t be afraid to advocate for what you believe is right. That courage is especially important for young women stepping into professional spaces.
Be clear about your values. Take a stand when needed. Say, “This is what I believe in, and this is the direction we should go.” When you communicate with clarity and conviction, people notice—and they follow.
Ultimately, it all comes down to confidence. When you are grounded in your purpose and sure of your direction, others will trust and align with you.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in my field is navigating the increasingly complex landscape of federal and state regulations—particularly around privacy, data anonymization, incident reporting, Sunshine Act requirements, and anti-kickback compliance—while ensuring alignment across multiple stakeholders, including compliance, procurement, finance, R&D, and business teams.
At the same time, these complexities present significant opportunities. They create space to build stronger, more efficient frameworks that improve cross-functional collaboration, reduce risk, and streamline contracting and compliance processes. When managed effectively, these systems not only ensure regulatory integrity but also help organizations move faster toward their strategic goals.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that matter most to me are collaboration, continuous improvement, clear communication, and empathy.
In my professional life, I strongly believe in bringing teams together. Many inefficiencies stem from gaps in communication or misalignment across functions. I focus on aligning stakeholders, understanding what has been done before, identifying gaps, and then building processes that are more efficient and effective. It’s important to me that everyone—from legal to business teams—understands not just the what, but the why, especially when it comes to compliance and regulatory requirements.
Given my work in contracts, I’m particularly mindful of handling sensitive areas like patient data and ensuring adherence to standards such as Sunshine Reporting and the Anti-Kickback Statute. I take pride in creating processes that are both compliant and practical, benefiting the organization as a whole.
Equally important to me is empathy and service. My experience volunteering at the Community Legal Services and Counseling Center in Cambridge, Massachusetts, had a profound impact on me. Supporting immigrant women seeking asylum—many of whom had faced domestic violence and extreme hardship—gave me a deep sense of purpose and gratitude. Being able to contribute, even in a small way, to helping them rebuild their lives and gain independence is something I value deeply.
At the core, whether in my professional or personal life, I strive to create meaningful impact—by improving systems, empowering people, and using my voice and skills to make a difference.
