Her Interview
Ten minutes with Srividya
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to perseverance and holding onto education. I come from a middle-class South Indian family where everything I achieved, like my first laptop and computer, I bought myself. I kept trying and reworking when things didn't work out. Education was the only thing we had, and I walked on that path with a vision to reach where I am today.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
If I can do it, you can also do it. I come from a middle-class South Indian family as the third daughter, where dreaming about a job in the U.S. was a big dream. Take easy steps, be strong on your vision, and have concrete goals. It is achievable.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge is AI rediscovering the entire IT field. The change is happening extremely fast, and we are unlearning and learning new things after two decades. Companies are growing fast and coming down just as fast, making the industry unsteady unlike the steady growth a decade ago.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Understanding people and connection through empathy is most important, both professionally and personally. Leaders should show empathy first, like when an engineer accidentally deleted production data, the senior leader's first concern was checking on the engineer and reassuring them it was okay, rather than just fixing the issue.
