What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to consistency, resilience, and a genuine passion for people. Throughout my career, I’ve focused on showing up every day with integrity, being transparent in how I work, and building strong relationships—whether with clients, colleagues, or those I’ve mentored along the way. I’ve also never been afraid to start from the ground up or embrace change, from working my way up in the multifamily industry over 25 years to transitioning into a completely new field in the waste industry. Staying patient, knowing my worth, and being willing to learn at every stage has played a major role in my growth. Most importantly, I’ve always believed in lifting others as I climb. Mentorship, teamwork, and helping others succeed have been just as fulfilling as my own achievements, and that mindset continues to drive me forward.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received came from my mentor, Grace Jones, who saw potential in me long before I saw it in myself. She taught me to trust my abilities, step outside of my comfort zone, and not be afraid to take on opportunities even when I didn’t feel fully ready.
She consistently pushed me to grow, encouraged me to believe in my value, and gave me the tools and confidence to succeed on my own. That guidance shaped not only my career path but also how I approach challenges today—with confidence, resilience, and a willingness to keep evolving.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
What I've learned most about myself as I've gotten older and moved up into the corporate world is to really know your worth. Don't take less because you feel that that's all you're worth. Know what your worth is, and go get it, because if this person doesn't see it, the next person will. Be patient, it will come. I've messed up a lot of times probably by not speaking up or taking less than I probably would now. At the end of the day, the most important value to bring forward is your integrity - being the same person regardless of who's looking. When you have that in your core, you can't go wrong.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The biggest value has got to be integrity - doing the right thing, even when nobody's looking. If you're doing that, then you can't go wrong. It's very important to me to be transparent with people, to be honest and upfront. Especially in sales, it can get very tricky, and I'm not one of those salespeople that's telling you one thing, and then you get a contract, and it's something else. I'm very honest and upfront. I like things to be that way, because I am a Christian, and I don't want karma coming back and biting me. You have to have whatever keeps your mind and your heart at peace, whether it's reading a book, whether it's hiking, or exercise, or singing - I sang in my church choir, which led me to doing karaoke. I enjoy running, reading, and spending time with my 3 beautiful granddaughters. My husband and I love going to concerts and enjoying live outdoor music at different venues.
