Her Story

About Stacey

Stacey Haid serves as Senior Multimedia Producer for BreastCancer.org, a role she began approximately one month ago. With 15 years in film and television, she produces content focused on breast cancer awareness, including PSAs, a four-part breast reconstruction series, and material on male breast cancer. Haid earned her degree from Full Sail University for film production, completed an internship at MTV that led to full-time employment, and counts that experience as a major part of her professional education. Her achievements include serving as first assistant director on the Oscar-winning short film of 2019 and receiving a Webby Award last year for an OCD project. She attributes her success to hard work combined with luck and emphasizes values of honesty, accountability, and empathy in her work. Haid overcame a personal breast cancer diagnosis while maintaining her career trajectory and now draws on that experience to create credible content for others facing similar challenges. She advises young women entering the industry not to be intimidated and notes that the current environment makes securing and retaining full-time positions difficult amid industry shifts and layoffs.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Stacey

01What do you attribute your success to?

My success comes from really hard work and luck. I have overcome significant personal challenges including battling breast cancer while maintaining my drive and positive perspective through perseverance.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Don't be afraid of men in the industry even if they can be intimidating or use words you might not know. Everyone is in the same boat because they followed a dream, so don't let anybody intimidate you.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge is finding and keeping work due to many layoffs, talented people looking for work with few jobs available, industry changes, merges, and shifts making it hard to secure full-time positions.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Honesty is a big value - I don't have a problem with mistakes but lying about them makes problems worse. Accountability is key, don't blame others. Empathy helps me see things from others' perspectives, understand different personalities, and ensure everyone is aligned.
