Stacey Hamilton is a dedicated Registered Nurse with over 16 years of experience in healthcare, including seven years at Renown Regional Medical Center. Her journey into nursing was inspired by contrasting personal experiences during the birth of her child, which highlighted for her the profound impact of compassionate, skilled care. Transitioning from a career in accounting to nursing, Stacey has built a meaningful career focused on making a difference in patients’ lives. She is recognized for her technical expertise, calm demeanor, and unwavering empathy in high-pressure clinical settings. Stacey has developed a specialized focus in critical care and post-anesthesia recovery, working closely with trauma patients to ensure safe surgical recovery and smooth transitions to the appropriate care units. She began her clinical path in progressive care and later moved into intensive care, discovering her passion for critical care nursing. Her commitment to patient dignity and comfort extends to end-of-life care, where she prioritizes providing meaningful support and fulfilling patients’ final wishes. Stacey’s leadership, clinical skill, and dedication to excellence have made her a valued member of her care teams. Beyond her clinical work, Stacey is also an author and advocate. After experiencing a traumatic brain injury, she began writing her upcoming book, After the Fall: Overcoming TBI Through Self-Advocacy and Acceptance, aimed at supporting others facing similar challenges. She holds four degrees, including a Bachelor’s in Business, an MBA, an Associate Degree in Nursing, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and is certified in critical care nursing. Outside of work, Stacey enjoys hiking, reading, crocheting, spending time outdoors with her puppy and her son, and pursuing adventures reminiscent of her former snowboarding days.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I ever received was to commit to a position for at least one year before deciding whether it is the right fit. The first year in any new role is often the most challenging, as it involves learning unfamiliar systems, responsibilities, and expectations. By the end of that first year, you typically have enough experience to know whether you have found your rhythm or if it is time to move on.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Nursing is both one of the most demanding and one of the most rewarding professions. The work often involves long hours and caring for individuals during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. It requires patience, resilience, and the ability to remain present even on the most challenging days. At the same time, nursing offers the privilege of witnessing recovery and healing. Every shift brings new opportunities to meet people from diverse backgrounds, to face fresh challenges, and to learn something new. My experience has taught me that each day in nursing provides meaningful lessons and reinforces the profound impact we can have on others.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Compassion, integrity, and dependability are the values that guide both my personal and professional life. I strive to maintain compassion in every interaction, with patients, colleagues, friends, and family. I approach others with kindness, empathy, and respect.

Integrity is equally essential to me. I hold myself to high standards of honesty and accountability, and I am comfortable acknowledging my mistakes and learning from them. Transparency, both in communication and in action, is a principle I work to uphold every day.

Dependability is another core value I take pride in. I consistently put forth my best effort, whether at work or at home. I take my responsibilities seriously, support my family, and do everything within my power to be someone others can rely on.
