About Stacey

Stacey Long is an author and foster care worker in Wichita, Kansas. She earned a degree in mass communications but pursued roles working with children after finding no openings in radio. Her career path included time as a corrections officer, work at a direct treatment center for women, and 10 years at a special needs school where many students were foster children. This experience led her to foster care work, which she has done for four years. Long recently published her book Whispers of the Heart on June 6th through a self-publishing arrangement with a publisher. The story is based on her life and follows the main character Lily, a girl with big dreams who faces abuse from her brother and receives positive affirmations and Bible teachings from her mother. In addition to her professional roles, Long has traveled the world as a missionary working with children and speaks Spanish to a limited degree. She credits a mentor named Harry Fleming, whom she has known for about 12 years, with providing personal support.
