About Stacey
With more than 40 years of experience in information technology, Stacey Morales has built a distinguished career spanning government, higher education, and the private sector. Beginning her technology journey in college in 1980 and entering the profession in 1990, she has held a wide range of technical, leadership, and executive roles, evolving from hands-on IT positions to leading complex program and project management initiatives. Her expertise includes digital transformation, systems modernization, Agile project management, vendor management, procurement, financial management, and building strong partnerships between business and technology teams.
Throughout her career, Stacey has successfully led large-scale technology implementations and modernization efforts across state government and higher education. After retiring from state government, where she intentionally focused her career on Medicaid technology to prepare for consulting opportunities, she transitioned into consulting, helping government agencies navigate complex Medicaid modernization initiatives. Today, she serves as a Senior Consultant and Project Manager, leading systems implementations, developing grant funding documentation for federal approval, managing multimillion-dollar projects, and coordinating vendor relationships for U.S. territories, including Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Her ability to translate complex technical challenges into practical business solutions has made her a trusted advisor to clients and stakeholders alike.

01What do you attribute your success to?
Throughout my career, I have been fortunate to have exceptional mentors and leaders who were willing to provide honest, constructive feedback—even when it was difficult to hear. Their guidance challenged me to recognize areas where I could improve and encouraged me to grow both personally and professionally. I made a conscious effort to listen to their advice, apply what I learned, and remain open to continuous improvement. That commitment to learning, adapting, and evolving, combined with the influence of outstanding leaders throughout my career, has been one of the greatest contributors to my professional growth and success.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I believe in leading with transparency and openness while maintaining a mindset of continuous learning. I actively seek opportunities to learn from others, recognizing that every experience and perspective offers valuable insight. I am equally passionate about mentoring others, sharing my knowledge and experiences to help them grow in their own careers. Above all, I strive to remain dynamic and adaptable, embracing change, encouraging collaboration, and continuously evolving as both a leader and a professional.

Honesty and integrity are the foundation of my leadership and the values that guide every decision I make. I believe in being transparent, ethical, and accountable in all my professional relationships. Combined with a strong work ethic, these principles have earned the trust of colleagues, clients, and stakeholders throughout my career. I strive to lead by example, consistently doing what is right, even when it is difficult, because I believe lasting success is built on character as much as competence.
