Her Story

About Stacey

I started in aerospace in 2007 and have been in the field for 19 years. My current title is Vice President of Program Management at Honeywell, which I recently rejoined after spending two and a half years as Vice President of business development at Hexcel. Previously, I spent almost 17 years at Honeywell in program management roles. I handle the entire portfolio of development, research and development, and revenue programs for the control systems business group, which is about a $5.2 billion business. In my previous role at Hexcel, I grew the defense and space business by 13,000 percent year over year initially, followed by another 12 percent, and then shifted to commercial growth where I turned planned negative 1 percent growth into 9 percent.

Ten minutes with Stacey

01What do you attribute your success to?

I think that I'm successful because I'm collaborative, so I think that people enjoy working with me for the most part, even in tough situations. I try to stay as collaborative as possible, I stay curious, so things that maybe it's not for me to start digging into I typically dig into just because of my natural curiosity. And really just perseverance. I like to see things through to the end. I like to win. Just trying to persevere through all the challenges that get thrown at you.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Aerospace in general tends to be a bit male-dominated. Don't let that intimidate you. There's plenty of amazing ways to contribute, regardless of male versus female. Just putting yourself out there, doing the job to the best of your ability. Always perform for the job that you want, not at the one that you have. Taking my level of support a step up than what just the level of expectation is within the job description, and really doing that next level of role to prove that you are capable of doing that.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Aerospace in general is going through a fairly unprecedented time of growth and just challenges within the supply chain, trying to make sure that material is coming in the door so that we can deliver to customers. One of the biggest opportunities is really understanding the supply chain, understanding where the issues are across the business, and being able to go and tackle those amongst an integrated product team group to overcome those challenges that the entire industry is facing.
