Director of Business Development
King Equipment LLC
Omaha, NE 68110

With nearly two decades of experience in construction, industrial sales, and business development, I have built a career centered on integrity, strong relationships, and results-driven leadership. As Director of Business Development for Patriot Nation and King Equipment LLC, I specialize in cultivating strategic partnerships across the crane, millwright, overhead crane, equipment rental, and heavy equipment sales sectors. I take pride in being known for reliability and follow-through — I do what I say I’m going to do — and for helping clients find honest, practical solutions that drive long-term success.

Throughout my career, I’ve developed a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities within the construction and equipment industries. From managing large-scale client portfolios to coordinating logistics for complex projects, my focus has always been on delivering exceptional customer experiences. I thrive on connecting people, fostering collaboration, and creating growth opportunities that strengthen both our organization and the broader industry community.

Before transitioning into construction sales, I spent over 18 years as a business owner, operating a successful childcare center that honed my organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills. That experience laid the foundation for my success in sales and leadership — teaching me the value of hard work, adaptability, and relationship-building. Today, as a leader at Patriot Nation and King Equipment, I remain passionate about mentorship, teamwork, and paving the way for women in construction. My mission is simple: to lead with authenticity, serve with purpose, and continue building connections that make a lasting impact.

Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to hard work, persistence, and a strong focus on building meaningful relationships. I believe that genuine connections and consistency are the cornerstones of lasting success. My willingness to step into new environments, adapt quickly, and learn from every experience has allowed me to thrive—particularly in spaces where women have been underrepresented.

My primary expertise lies in construction sales and business development. With over 20 years in the industry, I’ve earned a reputation for relationship-driven sales leadership, managing client partnerships, and overseeing major projects across data centers in Omaha. In my current role as Director of Business Development for a crane company, I focus on connecting contractors, coordinating logistics, and driving growth through strategic partnerships and customer relationship management.

Before entering construction sales, I owned and operated a daycare for more than 18 years. That experience helped me develop strong interpersonal and organizational skills, which translated naturally into sales. When I joined United Rentals Equipment Rental, I became the first female sales hire in Nebraska—a milestone that marked the beginning of my journey in breaking barriers within a male-dominated field. Over the past two decades, I’ve continued to grow as a respected leader in the construction and equipment rental industries.

Among my most notable achievements are becoming the first female sales representative at United Rentals in Nebraska and earning top performer recognition at both the district and regional levels. I also take great pride in successfully transitioning from daycare ownership to a fulfilling career in construction sales—proving that determination, adaptability, and resilience can redefine one’s professional path. Today, as Director of Business Development, I continue to lead with authenticity, drive growth, and serve as a trailblazer for women in the industry.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received came from my mentor, Pat Parks, who played a major role in shaping my work ethic and resilience. His guidance had such a profound impact on my life that I chose to have his name tattooed on my arm as a lasting tribute to his influence. I’ve also been inspired by the incredible women I’ve met through organizations like NAWIC (the National Association of Women in Construction). They’ve shown me the power of collaboration, mentorship, and mutual support—and how much stronger we are when we lift each other up in this industry.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering the construction and sales industries is to develop resilience and emotional discipline. This field can be challenging, but strength and focus will carry you far. I always tell women, “Stay strong, stay focused, and don’t let anyone intimidate you—your results will speak for you.”
I also encourage seeking out mentors and building a strong professional network. Surround yourself with people who will support and challenge you to grow. Most importantly, always act with integrity—your reputation is everything in relationship-driven industries like ours.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenges I see in my industry right now are competition and communication. Navigating multiple divisions within large organizations can make it difficult to maintain clear, consistent communication across teams. Ensuring everyone is aligned takes intentional effort and strong relationship management.
That said, I also see tremendous opportunity in collaboration and synergy. Even in Omaha’s highly competitive equipment rental market, I’ve witnessed how competitors can come together to meet client needs and strengthen the industry as a whole. Building trust, fostering collaboration, and focusing on shared goals create long-term success for everyone involved.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Integrity, loyalty, and resilience are the values that guide me both professionally and personally. I believe in maintaining honesty and professionalism in every interaction and in supporting others’ success along the way.
On a personal level, I deeply value family, community, and gratitude. I take great pride in my son, who serves as a Senior Master Sergeant in the Air Force stationed in Italy, and I’m endlessly grateful for the joy my five grandchildren bring to my life. These connections remind me daily of what truly matters and motivate me to lead with purpose and authenticity.
