Her Story
About Stacey
Stacey Zusy is a Product Manager at SAE International, where she manages the engineering tools, methods, and quality-related courses portfolio. She has 16 years of experience in her field and has spent a total of six years at SAE International across non-consecutive periods, including her current role that began in August. Zusy began her career as a teacher of third grade and middle school for five years before moving into educational sales and higher education, where she developed an interest in curriculum design. She earned an undergraduate degree in integrated science with an elementary education background and later completed a master's degree in education for learning design and technology at Wayne State, graduating in 2020. She also holds a Lean Six Sigma white belt certification and multiple Pragmatic Institute certificates in product management. In her role, Zusy takes a customer-centric approach by gathering voice of the customer insights from mobility engineers and leaders to identify professional development gaps, then collaborates with subject matter experts and learning experience teams to develop and launch courses. She attributes her success to colleagues who took a chance on her transition from the classroom and her constant internal drive to improve. Zusy values family first, integrity in following through on commitments, gratitude, and connection both personally and professionally.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I would attribute my success to a lot of folks that took a chance on me coming out of a third grade classroom, and the constant internal drive to do better.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
When in doubt, always go back to the customer's problem and any data you have access to, to make a decision.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Everything is figureoutable. No matter what you come up against, there's always a pathway forward. It just sometimes takes a little bit of creativity to figure out what that looks like.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Finding subject matter experts that can support in emerging technology spaces, as they are often mid-level career engineers with full-time jobs.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
