01What do you attribute your success to?
I think a great support system, honestly. I have a wonderful family, aligned friendships, supportive colleagues, and mentors. These are the people who have played a role in my life, the good and the bad, to be honest. There are those who taught me what not to do and those who taught me what to do. All of it has shaped who I've become personally and professionally. I have a very strong support system, so I'm very blessed.
For most therapists, they usually become a therapist because they've struggled themselves. It was my own personal challenges that fueled my desire to help other people, because I did not ever want anyone to feel the way I felt growing up. I just don't want that for people. It was always very important to me to help others.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
My middle sister, who's an intuitive life coach, has always told me to follow my heart. I'm going to be very candid, because there's no point in not being candid. I've always been very successful in my career, but I have never felt connected to it or aligned with it. I've always excelled. I’ve done great, and it's always been stability for me, but my passion is working one-on-one, doing the kind of therapy about which you and I have just spoken. You know, actually helping somebody transform their life so that they do not have to rely on medication and can live their lives free, joyful, all the things we're here to be. My sister has been telling me that for many years, and that was probably the best advice I ever received. Because what's the point? I've been working 60 hours a week at something that I'm not aligned with, and that just doesn't work.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Be persistent. If you want to be a psychotherapist, you need to be patient and get your master's degree, at minimum. After graduate school, you have to get a significant amount of supervised experience in the field. It takes time, but it is well worth it if you are sincere about your desire to pursue this field.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in my field is the high level of burnout caused by demanding institutional roles and unsustainably long work hours, which can impact both providers and the quality of care. At the same time, there is a growing opportunity to meet the increasing demand for effective anxiety treatment through flexible telehealth services, patient-centered care, and holistic approaches that support lasting healing and overall well-being.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I value authenticity and integrity. My passion for my private practice will be to help people overcome the root cause of their issues. I have been able to overcome my challenges, and so I want to help people overcome their challenges without relying on medication, if possible, so they can actually live their lives free, joyful, all the things we're here to be.
Environmental and animal causes in particular are very near and dear to my heart. I love traveling, gardening, yoga, meditation, reading, anything in nature. I love walking my dog; that's my favorite thing to do. I'm very involved with several environmental and animal causes, and I am a frequent blood donor because that's something I can do that is meaningful and doesn't take much time or effort on my part.
