Her Story

About Stacy

I've been at RIT for 30 years. I started as an undergraduate with an associate's degree in criminal justice and initially aimed for law enforcement. A co-op in private security led me to higher education instead. I spent about 20 years in campus public safety and law enforcement before moving into compliance 11 years ago. My new Title VI responsibilities began July 1, and my focus is building that program while improving campus culture.

01What do you attribute your success to?

My curiosity has driven my success as both an investigator and leader. I attribute it to my ability to say what I mean and mean what I say, leading by example with the highest level of ethics and integrity, which has served me well for three decades.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Never sell yourself short and never let others sell you short. Trust in yourself, take the next step if interested, and always be on a path for continuous improvement. In my early days in criminal justice and public safety as one of the few women, I did what was asked, strove to achieve and learn more, and was always willing to advance.
