About Stacy
I've been in my field for about four years now. Before joining Ziegler, I worked at a school for 8 years as a student mentor. When I first started that position, I was actually under a federal grant, and it was 90% kid and 10% paperwork when I started, but by the end it was 90% paperwork and 10% kid. I just felt like I couldn't do justice to the kids I was working with with those kind of parameters. A headhunter called and offered me a job at a local car dealership as a service advisor, but none of the promises came to fruition and the company was not a very good company. So I quit and did some online recruiting. While I was doing that, a gentleman called from a company called Ziegler, and Ziegler is one of the best-known, well-reputable companies in our area. We spoke on the phone for about 45 minutes, and he said, 'You know what, there is no openings, but I'm going to find you a job because we need you there.' They actually made me a position. I worked in the weld shop as a weld shop coordinator for about 6 months, and then they offered me the service advisor position for the main shop, and I've been there ever since. My main area of expertise is customer service. Being a service advisor, we work on skid steers and motors and dozers and every type of machine you can think of, but I'm in my role because of how I treat my customers. I'm the main contact of this branch. This is a very big facility, and I kind of run bays 1 through 4, which we call lawn and garden, but it's construction and general line. I open all the work orders for the entire front. When a customer calls, I generate business by calling customers, I run a lot of reports, I open all the calls for the front of house for the techs to go and do the work, I cut all the POs, I receive all the POs, and I do all the ordering. My main focus in my job is to keep the shop running, and that's to get them work. So I find jobs and make all the service orders.

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Do you. Find where you're happy, and the rest will fall in line. You can't force yourself into a situation that you're not meant for, and everyone has strengths and weaknesses, and you have to play the game, especially being in a male-dominated environment. There's 180 men that work here and 6 women. So you find your way pretty quickly on what you'll tolerate and what you won't tolerate. And you have to be able to lay your head down at night. No one else can do that for you.
02What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Integrity and believing in what you do are most important to me. The integrity that this company brought from the very beginning is what drew me here. It's always been known that they only hire the best, and I felt that was an honor right from the beginning. I wanted to do something where I knew a company would have my back. If I don't believe in the product, you can't sell it. I also wanted to show my kids that you don't have to settle. I wanted them to see that settling is not an option. You have to be able to lay your head down at night, and no one else can do that for you. I like to have things that I've earned and not paid for.
