Her Story
About Stacy
I've been in the hospitality and event planning industry for 17 years, working toward that 20-year milestone. My mother was in the hospitality industry for several years, and I wanted to follow in her footsteps. I always wanted to be an event planner because I love the organization and logistics of it. I started my career at Main Event Entertainment booking birthday parties - it was my first real job working in an office and booking events. I put in 4 years there and worked my way up, while also taking on any internship I could get my hands on to get ahead. That hard work landed me my first director position at age 24 for iFly Indoor Skydiving, where I became the youngest director of sales and marketing in the company. Before that, I really started off in the service industry, working as a server and bartender, then moved into being a banquet captain and bartending at events. I also learned about the hotel industry by working the PBX answering phones and working the front desk. Currently, I'm the Director of Sales and Marketing for Austin's Park, where I oversee two departments - the sales department and the marketing team. My daily life is organized chaos, as I like to put it, but that's this industry. I start my mornings focused on the sales part, working with my sales team on training, coaching, shadowing phone calls, reviewing our sales numbers, setting goals, celebrating wins, and taking live leads and site tours. In the afternoon, I switch over to the marketing side, working with our marketing firm on current projects and creating upcoming marketing promotions 3 months out. My main area of expertise is a good tie between event planning and event sales.

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I've ever received is probably my own advice I've given to myself: just remember who you are, and at the end of the day, what is your why? That sounds very cliche, but that's something I've always had to tell myself to get through hard moments, because we all have them, whatever field we go through. We're driving home at the end of the night, and we're just like, oh my gosh, what a crazy day, how am I going to get through this. So that's always been kind of, you know, remember your why. Just remember your why. Why are you doing this?
