Stacy Klein is a strategic communications executive with more than two decades of experience helping public sector organizations navigate complex policy, crisis communications, and public engagement. She currently serves as Agency Communications & Advisor for Thurston County Government in Washington, where she provides executive communications counsel, leads high-impact public affairs initiatives, and develops strategies that build public trust and strengthen community engagement. Known for translating complex regulatory and policy issues into clear, accessible messaging, Klein specializes in crisis management, behavior-change communications, and equity-centered public outreach.
Before joining county government, Klein built a successful career in journalism as a reporter and producer with CBS News, where she developed expertise in communicating under pressure and delivering accurate, compelling stories. She later transitioned into government communications, serving in leadership roles with the State of Washington and Thurston County, where she has led enterprise communications, media relations, digital engagement, and cross-agency public information efforts. Throughout her career, she has advised executive leaders during politically sensitive initiatives, managed large-scale communications campaigns, and helped shape strategies that improve public understanding and confidence in government programs.
Klein earned a bachelor's degree in Journalism from Texas Tech University and a Global Master of Business Administration from Duke University's Fuqua School of Business. She is also UX Certified through the Nielsen Norman Group, bringing a user-centered approach to public communications and digital engagement. Guided by a commitment to clarity, transparency, and service, Klein combines strategic insight with operational expertise to help organizations communicate effectively, foster trust, and create meaningful, lasting public impact.
