Stacy Stolen is a seasoned human resources leader currently serving as HR Manager at the Loveland Housing Authority, where she oversees end-to-end HR functions including benefits, 401(k), performance management, terminations, and manager coaching. She is passionate about creating a workplace culture where employees can bring their full selves, guided by trust, integrity, dignity, and a commitment to mental health and well-being. Stacy prioritizes tailored HR solutions over one-size-fits-all approaches, ensuring that organizational policies and practices meet the unique needs of each team and employee.

With over 15 years of HR experience across private, public, and nonprofit sectors, Stacy brings a wealth of expertise in organizational leadership, employee engagement, and operational efficiency. She has held roles ranging from Chief of Staff and HR executive at Alliant National, managing multi-state compliance and employees across 30 states, to directing HR at the Food Bank for Larimer County and Flexx Productions. Stacy is known for building practical HR infrastructure, successfully migrating organizations from PEO arrangements to in-house solutions, and implementing systems that drive cost savings while improving the employee experience.

In addition to her professional roles, Stacy has been the CEO of RVC/Real Value Consulting for over 13 years, partnering with small- to mid-sized companies to strengthen their HR and operational systems. She holds a BS in Psychology from Eastern Montana College and a Master’s degree from Colorado State University, and continues her professional development through SHRM courses and yearly legal updates. Stacy also serves on boards including SAVA and United Way, demonstrating her commitment to giving back and fostering inclusive, people-centered workplaces.

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to a combination of self-teaching, hands-on experience across multiple sectors, and a willingness to learn and adapt. Having supportive mentors and leaders who challenged me to raise the quality of my work has also been a key part of my growth and achievements.

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received is to make sure you have the right people in the right seats, a lesson reinforced by my mentor David Sinclair, who challenged me to always ask “why” and justify my actions, helping me grow professionally and improve outcomes.

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this industry is to make sure you love what you do—enjoy the work, treat every experience as a learning opportunity, and always care about the people you serve.

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenges in HR right now include navigating evolving laws and compliance, managing changing employee expectations, and attracting and retaining talent. At the same time, there are great opportunities to strengthen workplace culture, improve the employee experience, and optimize HR delivery by bringing outsourced services in-house.

The values most important to me in work and life are always doing the right thing, maintaining integrity and trust, respecting confidentiality and dignity, and advocating for mental health and well‑being.
