Her Story
About Stephanie
My main area of expertise is using strategy to help women in particular bring their ideals to life. I do this both with my legal clients as well as in my media work - helping women tap into the power of their decisions and choices so that they are able to create what it is they desire and deserve. I believe in having a very active life. My day begins with training as I'm a competitive bodybuilder, working out for 2 hours every morning. Then I do what I call my morning level set where I plan out my day, do my prayers and meditation, and prepare my mind, body, and spirit for the day ahead. I work my legal job about 9 to 10 hours a day remotely, going into the office on Mondays, helping clients across the world including some international clients. In the evenings, I'm either working on my podcast or other media projects, or volunteering doing volunteer work for the graduate chapter of my sorority, helping to develop other women leaders. Some days I play tennis in the evenings, some mornings I play golf after I work out. I'm also a subscriber to the ballet and opera, and I enjoy museums and symphony - I love experiencing creation and creative ideas that people have brought to life.

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
One of my professors at Tougaloo was very instrumental in encouraging me to step outside of my comfort zone and apply to Harvard. I did not necessarily think that was something that a little girl from Mississippi could do, but he encouraged me to apply. And I did, and I got in. That encouragement to step outside my comfort zone and believe I could achieve something I didn't think possible was transformative for my career.
02What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
I believe my mindset at this stage of my career is that there's much more opportunity than there are challenges. I have almost 30 years of experience in the legal profession and 53 years of life experience, and fortunately, that well of experience has prepared me to take on the opportunities that lie before me. We are in an age where we literally have the ability to create anything we put our mind to, with the help of technology and the gains in longevity. This is a golden season, as I like to call it in my life. This is a very beautiful time, because I get the benefit of experience coupled with the promise of opportunity. I think sometimes a challenge for me is being able to focus, because there's so many things I want to do and learn and be a part of. It's really important to focus on the areas of my life that are going to yield the greatest impact, both for me personally and for those around me.
