Her Interview

Ten minutes with Stephanie

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my children, who have always been my greatest motivation and inspiration. I initially entered education because I wanted to be on their school schedule, but I quickly discovered a true passion for teaching, learning, and supporting students. Over time, I developed a deep appreciation for educational technology, a field I never imagined I would excel in, and I dedicated myself to growing my skills through hard work, training, and continuous learning. I believe my success comes from my commitment to putting in the effort, embracing new challenges, and always seeking opportunities to improve so I can better support educators and students.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would encourage young women entering the education and educational technology field to never give up and keep moving forward, even when faced with challenges or rejection. You will hear “no” many times, but don’t allow those moments to discourage you—use them as motivation to continue growing and pursuing your goals. Knowledge is power, so take advantage of every opportunity to learn, whether through free trainings, professional development, or available resources. I started my journey as a pre-K paraprofessional, and through hard work, dedication, and a commitment to continuous learning, I have grown into a role where I lead district trainings and participate in leadership and ambassador programs. My advice is to believe in yourself, put in the effort, stay open to opportunities, and remember that every successful journey starts somewhere. Keep pushing forward, because your dedication and persistence can take you further than you ever imagined.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge in education right now is navigating uncertainty, including campus closures and changes within school systems that can create fewer opportunities. However, I believe there are still many opportunities for growth, innovation, and impact. My advice is to stay resilient, continue learning, and keep pursuing new possibilities. In Texas and beyond, there are many districts that are continuing to grow and invest in education, technology, and creative solutions. By remaining adaptable, building skills, and staying committed to the mission of supporting students and educators, we can continue to make a difference despite the challenges.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that are most important to me in both my work and personal life are continuous learning, collaboration, and the willingness to share knowledge. I believe that knowledge is power, and if I have the opportunity to learn something that can benefit others, I want to share it. If I don’t know the answer, I am committed to finding it, learning from the experience, and putting in the work to grow. At the heart of everything I do is a commitment to supporting students, because they are the reason we are here. I believe the greatest impact comes from working together, collaborating with incredible people, sharing ideas, and creating a community where everyone can learn and succeed.
