Her Story

About Stephanie

I began my career in mission work about 12 years ago, running an animal shelter for 5 years before starting a family. I continued working with that organization and several others after cutting back. When COVID happened, it was time to find something that worked for my schedule while still making a difference. I started LuxGlo Spray Tans 5 years ago, primarily serving women and helping them feel better about themselves. I'm also passionate about advocating for better skin choices versus tanning beds because my mother and sister both had skin cancer, and Minnesota was top 3 for highest skin cancer rates at the time. I got multiple certifications and trained with Christy Walker, who had her own studio in Malibu. I tried different solutions from Australia to local studios, seeking the most natural products that look natural on clients while educating them about what's being put on their skin. I branded LuxGlo MN and started mobile, going to people's homes during COVID when people wanted control over hygiene and safety. Now I rent out of a studio while still doing mobile, which gives people a chance to get out of their homes and is convenient for me while raising two girls with a crazy schedule. This January, I started with Mothers Against Drunk Driving, which has been incredible. I'm working on a grant to hopefully have my own brick and mortar running studio with employees so I can focus on mission work as my main priority.

Ten minutes with Stephanie

01What do you attribute your success to?

I didn't always have things readily available when I was younger, so I had to figure things out a lot on my own. I think that tenacity has been able to keep me moving forward and have that thrive. It's still always a learning process, I would say.

02What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I love to see my girls being able to see my husband and I work hard, to see me personally be able to run a business while also serving mission work, something I'm extremely passionate about. Values are to be able to have that financial freedom as a woman - I think that's extremely important. I'm happily married, but I think it is a partnership where you feel valued in all aspects. Being able to have freedom when you do have free time to be able to do what you love - I think that shows a balanced life, which is everyone's goal, to find some balance. Staying vigilant, being extremely organized, putting your best foot forward by being able to take care of yourself, working out and treating that like a meeting every day. Knowing you gotta get to bed earlier so you can wake up earlier and be the best version of yourself. Be open-minded, stay humble, and help others.
