Her Story
About Stephanie
In my role leading operations for a 288-acre corporate facility, I oversee the strategic development, daily maintenance, and long-term performance of a high-profile site. I manage vendor relationships, contract negotiation, medium-capital project execution, and workplace sustainability initiatives that align directly with PepsiCo’s environmental and operational goals.
A core focus of my work is optimizing building performance and enhancing the employee experience through innovative programs centered on facility modernization, sustainability efficiencies, and operational excellence. I lead budget planning and forecasting, identifying cost-saving opportunities while maintaining high-quality service standards across all facility functions.
I also drive key sustainability and ESG programs, including the expansion of EV charging infrastructure, recycling and waste-reduction initiatives, and resource-efficiency improvements that support the company's environmental commitments.
Collaboration is central to this role. I partner closely with cross-functional teams, including EHS, IT, Security, and Real Estate, to support business continuity, mitigate operational risks, and deliver seamless workplace services. Additionally, I train and mentor staff on facility procedures, safety protocols, and emergency response plans, strengthening team readiness, compliance, and performance across departments.
Through strategic leadership, operational planning, and a strong focus on sustainability, I help create a workplace environment that is safe, efficient, innovative, and aligned with the long-term vision of the organization.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Stephanie
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to a combination of resilience, adaptability, continuous learning, and strong relationships. Growing up as an immigrant and navigating a new culture and language taught me perseverance and problem-solving from an early age. Balancing motherhood, work, and completing my degree strengthened my time management, discipline, and ability to perform under pressure.
My professional success also stems from my diverse background—blending design, operations, and leadership—which has allowed me to approach challenges creatively and strategically. Finally, building a strong network of mentors, peers, and supportive colleagues has been essential in opening opportunities, providing guidance, and helping me grow both personally and professionally.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is: “Focus on learning, not just doing, and build relationships along the way.”
Early in my career, I realized that excelling at tasks alone wasn’t enough to grow professionally. By taking the time to understand the bigger picture, ask questions, and learn from every experience, I developed strategic thinking and leadership skills. At the same time, investing in relationships—with mentors, peers, and teams—opened doors and created opportunities I couldn’t have achieved alone.
This advice has guided me through every stage of my career, helping me step into leadership roles, drive innovation, and create meaningful impact in my work.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering facilities management or operations is: be confident, stay curious, and take every opportunity to learn.
Seek hands-on experience, embrace mentorship, and collaborate across teams—these experiences will accelerate your growth far more than just observing. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, take on challenges, and step into roles that stretch your skills. Lead with a good heart, be direct, and trust that your perspective and contributions are valuable.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
As the industry evolves (technology, sustainability, hybrid workspaces, ESG compliance), there’s increased demand for professionals who combine technical knowledge with strategic thinking, sustainability awareness, and leadership. That means big opportunity for growth — especially for people with diverse experiences (ops + design + sustainability + leadership).
Also, the shortage of skilled trades and experienced facility professionals (due to retirements and increased demand) means there’s space for committed, motivated individuals to rise and lead.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me are integrity, resilience, empathy, and continuous growth. They guide how I lead and collaborate, while also allowing me to prioritize what matters most personally—raising my now-teenager daughter and spending weekends with her and our four dogs to create lasting memories.
