About Stephanie

Stephanie Sudik Scott is an accomplished Certified Surgical First Assistant with more than 15 years of perioperative experience in the Dallas area. She began her healthcare journey in nursing school before transitioning into surgical technology, where her passion for surgery and hands-on patient care ultimately led her to become a Surgical First Assistant.

Throughout her career, Stephanie has supported surgeons across multiple specialties, including orthopedics, spine, plastic surgery, neurosurgery, and gynecology. Her experience includes complex surgical procedures, wound closure, pre- and postoperative care, and collaboration with orthopedic and spine specialists in reviewing X-rays and MRIs. She also has specialized training and experience with robotic systems. Her background in plastic surgery has strengthened her attention to surgical technique and cosmetic outcomes, including minimizing and concealing scars whenever possible.

Stephanie also brings extensive operating room leadership experience. Prior to joining St. Raphael Health–Dallas, she oversaw OR, PACU, and preoperative operations, including staffing, scheduling, payroll, materials and supply management, vendor relationships, regulatory compliance, and implant and tissue tracking.

Currently, Stephanie serves as a Surgical First Assistant at St. Raphael Health–Dallas, where she combines her clinical expertise with support for materials management, payroll, team building, and operational projects. She is passionate about developing strong surgical teams, supporting surgeons, and creating efficient workflows while maintaining a strong commitment to patient safety, quality care, and positive outcomes.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Stephanie

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute much of my success to my mother and father, who always encouraged me to work hard, believe in myself, and strive to be the very best I could be in whatever path I chose. Their love, guidance, and example gave me the foundation and determination that have carried me throughout my career.

I have also been incredibly fortunate to have the support of my family and friends, as well as the many talented surgeons and clinical professionals I have had the privilege of working alongside over the years. Each of them has taught me something, challenged me to grow, and helped shape the professional I am today. I truly believe success is never achieved alone, and I am deeply grateful for everyone who has supported, mentored, and believed in me along the way.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Never give up, no matter how difficult the journey becomes, and always trust in God. Challenges are often where the greatest growth happens, and I’ve learned that there is a purpose and a plan even when the path isn’t clear. Stay determined, keep learning, trust in God’s timing, and continue moving forward.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would tell young women entering the surgical field to believe in themselves, work hard, and never be afraid to speak up or ask questions. Learn as much as you can from the people around you, but always stay true to who you are. This industry can be challenging, but those challenges will make you stronger and more confident. Treat every patient as if they were your own family, support your team, and never stop learning. Most importantly, trust in God, trust in yourself, and never let anyone tell you that you can’t achieve the goals you’ve set for yourself.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in healthcare today is keeping up with rapidly changing technology while continuing to provide safe, compassionate, high-quality patient care. Staffing shortages and burnout also make building and maintaining strong surgical teams more important than ever. At the same time, these challenges create incredible opportunities for growth.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that are most important to me are faith, family, integrity, compassion, and hard work. I believe in treating others with kindness and respect, doing the right thing even when no one is watching, and always giving my best. In both my personal life and my career, I try to lead by example, support the people around me, and try to keep my family at the center of everything I do.
