Her Interview
Ten minutes with Stephanie
01What do you attribute your success to?
My husband, who was my high school sweetheart and we reconnected after 30 years, has been my biggest support system through personal and legal challenges. I've accomplished more with him in the few years we've been together than ever before. My daughter also inspires me as we went through a lot together, and I want her to see that what happens to us doesn't define us and that she can achieve anything.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Don't let anybody tell you that you can't do it. I had so many people that tried to tell me that I couldn't do it, and I am one of those people where don't tell me I can't do something because I'm gonna do it. Ask all the questions, be nosy, be curious, get in there, and just go for it.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge is stepping outside my comfort zone into the environmental side of compliance, as I'm very comfortable with OSHA standards but pivoting to environmental has been rewarding yet challenging. On the opportunity side, it's been neat to see women growing in this male-dominated industry like safety and oil field, bringing so much to the table and leading the path for other women.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Be kind, be honest, work hard, and never give up. Knowing what I've gone through, it's always be kind. Another mantra is be stronger than the day before, stronger than them, referring to my abuser.
