Her Interview
Ten minutes with Stephannie
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to God and my faith. I believe in God and that there's a supernatural force backing me up. I feel like wherever I am now, there's more I can do and I've only accomplished this due to my spiritual belief. I believe in faith and that I can pursue all things.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I ever received is to be professional but be yourself. Being me and being the best version of myself has helped me. You can have the education background and everything else, but if you have a bad personality or don't love what you do, you can't go as far as you think. Focus on your educational background but remember that how people perceive you and how you take your job seriously makes you stand out.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Just do it. There's no age limit. I'm a go-getter. The thing I always tell myself is how bad can it get? What's the worst that can happen? The worst that can happen is someone telling you no or getting a rejection. But what if it goes well? Give it a shot. People in the background might make comments to discourage you, but nothing is going to stop you if you try.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge is people challenges. You can meet somebody and the person might not have that same love for the job you're doing. They might not go the extra mile. It makes the work slow when you meet co-workers or clients who just don't like what they do or what's happening in their life, and you can't control how someone will behave on any given day.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Being honest and being there for other people. I want people to think of me and say to themselves, if no one would do this, Stephanie would do it. I've always been that person in my family group and my friends, that whatever situation that arises, my name is the first to be mentioned, even though I'm not in the room. To be there for people, to be that figure people look up to.
