Stormee Galka, MBA, is a dynamic and driven project management professional based in Missouri, currently serving as an Assistant Project Manager at Burns & McDonnell. Originally from Arizona, Stormee has always balanced ambition with a deep sense of teamwork—values she honed as a scholarship softball player and team captain at Lindenwood University, where she earned both her Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and her MBA. A lifelong athlete, she continues to compete in a competitive volleyball league and is a passionate golfer, often bringing the same strategic mindset to the course that she applies in the field of engineering and construction project delivery.

Beyond her professional and athletic pursuits, Stormee is recently engaged and planning her wedding in Arizona in 2027. She and her fiancé share their life with two beloved dogs who join them on frequent travel adventures. Whether on a hiking trail, volleyball court, or project site, Stormee brings energy, leadership, and a commitment to results—always striving to connect people and purpose in everything she does.

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to the values my parents instilled in me—always do your best and never stop learning—and to my background in sports, where I learned that healthy competition pushes you to grow and excel.

The best career advice I’ve ever received is: “If you’re the smartest person in the room, you’re in the wrong room.” It’s a reminder to always seek opportunities for growth and surround yourself with people who challenge and inspire you.

My advice to young women entering the industry is: don’t be afraid to speak up—your voice matters. Be confident, stay curious, and never hesitate to ask questions.

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in our field right now is navigating material backlogs and keeping up with constantly evolving regulations, which also creates opportunities for innovation and adaptability.
