About Stormy

Stormy Bell is a nonprofit leader and executive dedicated to advancing youth empowerment, mental wellness, and leadership development for teen girls. She currently serves as Executive Director of Girls Spark, a regional nonprofit supporting girls ages 11 to 18 as they navigate social challenges, build confidence, and strengthen well-being across 12 schools in the Greater Philadelphia area. In this role, she leads organizational strategy and cross-functional collaboration between teen leadership boards, adult advisors, school partners, and community stakeholders to ensure impactful, youth-centered programming. She brings more than 18 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising and development across New Jersey and Pennsylvania, with a strong track record of building sustainable donor relationships, strengthening organizational capacity, and advancing mission-driven initiatives. After years in development leadership, she intentionally pivoted into an executive role to integrate her strategic, creative, and relationship-building strengths in a more direct leadership capacity serving youth and community impact. In addition to her executive work, Stormy is the host of The Art of Volunteering podcast, now in its fifth season. Through in-depth conversations with volunteer leaders, nonprofit professionals, and community organizations, she highlights the power of service and civic engagement in creating meaningful change. Her work reflects a consistent commitment to storytelling, leadership, and expanding opportunities for the next generation of young women to thrive.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Stormy

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my faith and my commitment to staying true to who I am. My faith has been a steady foundation that guides my decisions, keeps me grounded in purpose, and helps me lead with integrity, even in challenging moments. Equally important is my dedication to authenticity—showing up consistently as myself, aligning my work with my values, and building trust through honesty, transparency, and meaningful relationships.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this industry is to find a mission you truly believe in. When your work is connected to purpose, it becomes more than a job it becomes a source of motivation, resilience, and fulfillment. The nonprofit and leadership space can be demanding, but having a clear sense of “why” will help you stay grounded, focused, and energized through challenges. Surround yourself with people who support your growth, continue learning, and never underestimate the impact you can make when you are aligned with work that genuinely matters to you.

03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

My values in both my work and personal life are honesty, open communication, authenticity, and embracing new ideas. I believe honesty builds trust and integrity in all relationships, while clear and open communication ensures alignment, understanding, and collaboration. Staying authentic allows me to lead and interact in a genuine way that reflects my true purpose and beliefs. I also value new ideas, as they encourage growth, innovation, and continuous improvement in both personal development and professional impact.
