Her Story
About Subhasmita
My key responsibilities include looking after development administration and land revenue administration, providing land rights to people below the poverty line. I work on their eligibility for housing, provide forest rights to forest dwellers, and implement different development works like providing pensions and housing. I reach out to the last mile, going inside remote areas to ensure people can access government benefits including healthcare and education. As a generalist, I am placed in every field for some time to look after overall issues, integrating people into government plans and schemes and giving them their right-based entitlements. I have integrated more than 500 beneficiaries and provided them land rights. I work as a disaster management officer, coordinating with 27 departments at the district level for efficient disaster management, mitigation, and adaptation. During COVID, I tracked COVID patients and hospital infrastructure, providing relief to migrant laborers and COVID patients. I continuously monitor weather conditions and coordinate across departments for food grain, fire services, schools for temporary shelter, and food distribution to keep people safe and maintain their dignity during disasters.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I must say that there is immense satisfaction when you serve for people, and the purpose of life, which is integrated with serving people and uplifting the marginalized people from their state and bringing them to the mainstream is the biggest achievement of life. It may not look like a very big success, but it is the biggest satisfaction that we get, and the blessing of the people that we get. So, I must say, whatever you are doing, some part of our energy, of our time, of our life and money, we must spend on these people to bring them to the mainstream and at par with others. And mostly, education is the biggest thing. If we can provide education to those people and help them achieve their goal, then it would be a great success for ourselves.
